Mr. Kirk Nielsen

Mr. Kirk Nielsen is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education. He became an ordained minister at Highland Park Baptist Church and began his career as a full time pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Ellijay, G.A. Mr. Nielsen moved to Raleigh, N.C. where he served in Christian education for ten years. The last seven of those years, he was the Dean of Students at North Raleigh Christian Academy. Mr. Nielsen is currently completing his M.Ed. through Regent University.

 

Ms. Krysten Adams
Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy

Krysten Adams is a graduate of UNCW with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a Master's Degree in Chemistry. She student taught at John T. Hoggard High School and was a Chemistry lab assistant at UNCW. She is certified in secondary science education and enjoys teaching science as a believer in biblical creation. She has served as a youth minister at Wrightsville United Methodist Church.

 

Mrs. Sherrie Hiatt
Choir, Voice, Bible

Mrs. Sherrie Hiatt is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Music with a concentration in piano and voice. She has taught choir in both school and church settings. Mrs. Hiatt is recognized as a gifted musician. She and her family attend Crossway Chapel where she is active in worship ministry, and she supports her husband, Hal, in his role as the Southeastern North Carolina Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).


 
Mr. Kyle Van Zandt
History, P.E.

Mr. Kyle Van Zandt is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a
degree in Political Science. He has served on staff at Calvary Baptist
Church in Winston-Salem, NC and has spent some time in Guatemala doing relief and mission work. Mr. Van Zandt loves spending time with his wife, Lorin, playing music, surfing, and following Demon Deacon athletics. His favorite verse in the Bible is Colossians 3:17, and he attends Port City Community Church.

 

Mrs. Carole Jackson
English, American Literature

Mrs. Carole Jackson is a graduate of UNCW with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a minor in Theatre. She taught both middle and high school English in Illinois, Virginia and Georgia. While in Georgia, she served as the head of the English Department and was voted "Teacher of the Year". Mrs. Jackson is an avid reader and writer and has published two articles in Columbus County, NC. She has authored three books on genealogy.  Mrs. Jackson is an active member of Temple Baptist Church.

 

Mr. Gabriel Lovejoy

Mr. Gabriel Lovejoy is a graduate of UNCW with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. He is a graphic designer, visual artist and set designer. He has owned his own Graphic Design Company and is a talented artist. His works can be seen in local businesses around the Wilmington area. Mr. Lovejoy has previously taught art as well as secondary math in a private Christian school setting.

 

Mr. Jon Moon
Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Math

Mr. Jon Moon is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He is a retired Chemical Company President of Elementis Chromium and previous Plant Manager for the Diamond Shamrock Corporation. After retiring, Mr. Moon taught math classes at the high school level in Corpus Christi, Texas and then tutored at Ashley High School here in Wilmington. Mr. Moon brings with him a great deal of experience in management, marketing and teaching from his past careers. He is a marathon runner and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

 

Ms. Melissa Puritis
English, Literature, Yearbook/Newspaper, Computer App.

Ms. Melissa Puritis is a graduate of UNCW with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and certification in professional writing.  She is currently working towards her Masters of Arts in English from UNCW.  Ms. Puritis has worked as a teacher’s assistant at Codington Elementary, where she also taught computer lab to the upper grade levels.    In the recent past, she has interned at two local magazines where she was published weekly.  She is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic church.  

 

Mrs. Patricia Rios
Spanish I and II

Mrs. Patricia Rios is a graduate of the Universidad Del Valle de Mexico with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. She taught Spanish and Computer classes at Corona Norco Unified School and the Institute Francisco Possenti before moving with her family to Wilmington. Mrs. Rios also teaches Spanish at Myrtle Grove Christian School and attends St. Mark's Catholic Church.
