Susan King-Lanier: American Sign Language

Susan King Lanier is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College where she earned a BA in Education of the
Hearing Impaired. She taught Deaf/hard of hearing students in GA, HI, and NC for several years, and
then left the public school system to teach her children in a homeschool setting spanning 24 years. In
addition, she taught Deaf Studies courses at UNC Wilmington from 1999-2015. She also is a nationally
certified ASL interpreter, and works full time in community interpreting. In 2016 she completed her
MS in ASL/English Interpreting from the Univ. of North Florida. Her greatest earthly treasure is
invested in her 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter-in-love, and 5 grandchildren. Life Community Church
is her home church.
